Ken Kuhrt

Ken Kuhrt is Executive Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Ariel Investments, where he leads portfolio management for strategies including the Ariel Fund and co-manages Ariel Small Cap Value and Small Cap Value Concentrated portfolios. Based in Chicago, his responsibilities include equity research, security selection, and portfolio construction, with a particular emphasis on value and small-cap equity strategies.

He specializes in U.S. small- and mid-cap equities, concentrating notably on the industrials, consumer discretionary, and business services sectors. Kuhrt is recognized for his fundamental approach and deep sector expertise, as underscored by his research coverage of companies such as Generac Holdings, Inc. and participation in Ariel’s investment commentary.

Prior to joining Ariel Investments as a research analyst in 2004, Kuhrt worked as a Senior Analyst in Corporate Finance at William Blair and began his career as a Senior Auditor at KPMG. He holds degrees from the University of Chicago and the University of Illinois and is a licensed CPA, bringing robust analytical and financial acumen to Ariel’s investment process.
