Andrew Chen

Andrew Chen is Portfolio Manager and Head of Real Estate Investments at Beach Point Capital Management, based in New York, NY. In this role, he leads all private commercial and residential real estate investing activities, emphasizing direct origination of loans, opportunistic debt acquisitions, and special situations across U.S. middle-market assets. The platform he oversees is sector-agnostic, targeting both sponsored and non-sponsored transactions to capture value from market dislocations and evolving real estate debt needs.

Prior to joining Beach Point in 2019, Mr. Chen was Portfolio Manager at Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, where he managed U.S. commercial real estate equity and debt strategies and was responsible for investing $3.9 billion across 47 transactions for one of the world’s largest institutional investors. His earlier experience includes roles at Lehman Brothers Real Estate Partners, focusing on opportunistic equity investments, and at Merrill Lynch’s Global Real Estate Investment Banking Group.

Mr. Chen holds a BSFS from Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service and is a CFA charterholder. He is recognized for his expertise in structuring creative real estate financing and his leadership in developing flexible investment strategies that address complex market challenges in private real estate and credit markets.
