Ben Hunsaker

Ben Hunsaker is the Portfolio Manager and Head of Structured Credit Strategies at Beach Point Capital Management, based in Los Angeles. In this role, he is responsible for leading investments in structured credit products, which include asset-backed securities (ABS), mortgage-backed securities (MBS), collateralized loan obligations (CLOs), and other securitized fixed income assets. His focus is on alternative credit sectors, emphasizing innovative strategies within structured finance and credit markets.

Before joining Beach Point in 2014, Hunsaker was a Portfolio Manager specializing in structured products at Western Asset Management, where he managed complex credit and securitized portfolios. Prior to that, he served as a Senior Analyst in the structured finance and banking group at Countrywide Securities Corporation, responsible for the securitization of ABS and MBS. His deep expertise covers securitized credit, banking, and risk management across several major industry platforms.

Mr. Hunsaker earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Accounting from Claremont McKenna College and his MBA from the Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University. He is both a CFA Charterholder and a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM), underscoring his technical proficiency in investment analysis and risk oversight. He also contributes to the industry and community as co-chairman of the non-profit Uncommon Good and serves on the Board of Advisors for the Financial Economics Institute at Claremont McKenna College.
