Jackson Garton

Jackson Garton is the Chief Investment Officer at Makena Capital Management, LLC, based in Palo Alto, CA. In his role, he leads the firm’s investment strategy, oversees asset allocation, and manages the investment team, ensuring robust performance across Makena’s multi-asset portfolios. He is responsible for the stewardship of institutional capital from endowments, foundations, and family offices, with key focus areas across public equities, private equity, venture capital, real assets, credit, and hedge funds.

Over his career at Makena beginning in 2006, Jackson has held a number of leadership positions, including Co-Chief Investment Officer, Deputy CIO, and Head of Marketable Investments. His expertise encompasses portfolio construction, manager selection, and marketable securities, with a strong emphasis on alternative investments and endowment-style multi-asset strategies. He also serves as a member of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Trust, helping to manage a portion of the GSB endowment and advising other investment managers.

Jackson holds a B.S. in Mathematical and Computational Science from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar and recipient of the Alexander A. Robichek Student Achievement Award in Finance. He is a CFA Charterholder, recognized for his analytical rigor and contributions to institutional investing. His notable achievements include advancing Makena’s investment process and developing innovative approaches to portfolio management in diverse asset classes.
