Haochen Tu is an Investment Associate at Makena Capital Management, LLC, based in Menlo Park, California. As part of Makena’s Portfolio Strategy Team, Haochen is responsible for hedge fund manager selection and risk management across multi-asset class portfolios, with a particular focus on alternative investments and absolute return strategies. Haochen began his career at Makena Capital as an Investment Analyst in 2022, advancing to Senior Investment Analyst before assuming his current associate role in 2025. Throughout his tenure, he has developed expertise in manager due diligence, portfolio construction, and cross-asset risk analytics, primarily covering hedge funds and multi-strategy vehicles within Makena’s globally diversified platform.

He holds a degree in History & Computer Science from the University of Oxford (Magdalen College), a degree in International Finance from Università Bocconi, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science & Business Administration with a Renaissance Studies minor from Washington and Lee University. Haochen’s multidisciplinary background and cross-border education enable him to bring a rigorous, quantitative perspective to alternative investments and portfolio risk management.
