Steven Wishnia

Steven Wishnia is the President and CEO of Highland Capital Management, LLC, based in Memphis, TN. He is a founding member of Highland Capital Management, which he established in 1987 after working for the predecessor firm, Highland Investment Corp. Wishnia oversees all aspects of the firm’s operations, guiding its investment strategy and client relationships for both institutional and individual investors.

His investment expertise focuses on traditional equity and fixed income portfolios, with significant emphasis on large-cap equities, S&P 500 stocks, and fixed-income securities for institutional accounts such as pension funds, foundations, government entities, and 401(k) plans. Wishnia is noted for a disciplined approach that seeks to generate above-market returns with below-market risks by emphasizing companies with strong financials and attractive valuations while managing volatility in fixed-income assets.

Wishnia has more than 45 years in the financial industry, previously holding positions at SG Securities and Delphi Management Corporation before founding Highland Capital. He holds a BBA from Pace University in New York City. Throughout his career, he has contributed to the growth of Highland Capital and currently manages over $2.7 billion in client assets, making notable contributions to the investment management field, especially in institutional portfolio management and risk-focused equity strategies.
