John McGowan

John McGowan is the Global Head of Investment Operations and Fund Administration at Matthews International Capital Management LLC (commonly known as Matthews Asia). In this executive role, he leads fund administration, oversees investment operations, and manages IT functions, ensuring efficient and compliant support for the firm's diverse investment strategies.

His expertise spans over three decades in the financial services industry, with previous leadership positions including Chief Operating Officer at Forward Funds and ReFlow LLC, Director of Client Services at PFPC Global Fund Services, and experience at M&T Bank and First Pacific Advisors. At Matthews, he is specifically focused on operational leadership and fund administration for portfolios concentrated in Asia-Pacific equities and emerging markets, supporting institutional clients, investment funds, and private mandates.

John holds a B.A. in Marketing from Clarkson University. He has been active on the Board of Governors and as Executive Committee Chairman of the Investment Management Education Alliance, and is recognized for developing best practices in fund administration, enhancing operational efficiency, and advancing industry education initiatives in the mutual fund sector.
