Mark Heppenstall

Mark Heppenstall is Chief Investment Officer at Penn Mutual Asset Management, Inc., where he oversees investment strategy, asset allocation, and portfolio management for the firm’s institutional clients. His leadership focuses on navigating market dynamics, managing risk, and identifying investment opportunities across a range of asset classes, most notably in fixed income and equities as demonstrated by his regular commentary on bond markets, tariffs, and economic uncertainty.

Heppenstall’s investment focus extends to U.S. corporate credit, government bonds, and macroeconomic analysis impacting equity markets and interest rates. With a career at Penn Mutual since 2014, Heppenstall previously held roles as managing director and portfolio manager before being promoted to CIO. He earned an MSIA in Finance from Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business and a BA in American History from Vanderbilt University, underpinning his expertise in institutional asset management, economic analysis, and portfolio construction.
