Max Horn

Max Horn is Head of Risk and Performance and Co-head Quantitative Research at Virtus Investment Partners, based in New York, NY. In this role, he leads quantitative research initiatives and oversees risk and performance across the firm's investment strategies, contributing to portfolio construction and optimization for institutional clients. His focus areas include fixed income, multi-asset, and credit strategies, with specific expertise in risk analytics and quantitative modeling in global and emerging markets securities.

Previously, Max was Head of Quantitative Research at Stone Harbor Investment Partners, where he spent more than fifteen years, specializing in quantitative analysis and risk management for global fixed income and credit portfolios. He has a deep background developing proprietary investment models and leading research teams focused on sovereign, corporate, and structured credit asset classes.

Max holds an MBA in Accounting and Finance from NYU Stern School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Sydney. He is a CFA and CAIA charterholder, underscoring his expertise in alternative investments, risk management, and quantitative finance, and has contributed innovative risk analytics and performance methodologies adopted by global asset managers.
