Phill Gross

Phill Gross is the co-founder and Managing Director of Adage Capital Management, L.P., where he serves as Healthcare Portfolio Manager and oversees investment strategies for the firm. Based in Boston, he manages portfolios that primarily focus on the healthcare sector, leveraging over 36 years of experience analyzing the healthcare therapeutics industry. Adage Capital is known for its focus on S&P 500 equities, predominantly managing assets for nonprofit and academic endowments and foundations, with a particular strength in healthcare and significant attention to retail stocks as well.

Before establishing Adage Capital in 2001, Gross spent 18 years at Harvard Management Company, where he was a Partner, Equity Research Director, and led as a healthcare and retail analyst. His expertise in equity research and portfolio management is well-respected, and he has been instrumental in shaping investment strategies that have consistently outperformed benchmarks.

Gross holds both a BBA and an MS in Finance & Investments from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has received several distinguished alumni awards, serves on advisory boards for finance and investment programs at his alma mater, and is an active board member and philanthropist supporting education and healthcare initiatives.
