Gerard Smith

Gerard Smith, MD, MBA, is a Managing Director at Deep Track Capital, a Greenwich, Connecticut-based investment firm specializing in the life sciences sector, with a particular focus on biotechnology. At Deep Track, he is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and managing investments in both public and pre-IPO biotech companies, leveraging his extensive clinical and financial expertise.

Before joining Deep Track Capital at its founding, Gerard gained significant investment experience as a buy-side Analyst covering biotechnology at Samlyn Capital, a multi-billion-dollar hedge fund, and previously served as Vice President in Biotech Equity Research at SVB Leerink (now SVB Securities LLC), where he covered a range of innovative biotech companies. His sector concentration has consistently been in biotechnology, working with early-stage and emerging growth companies advancing novel therapeutic platforms.

Gerard holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Miami, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University.
