David Sultan

David Sultan is Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer at Fir Tree Partners, a New York-based investment management firm, where he oversees all investment activities and leads the development of the investment team. With over two decades at Fir Tree, he is responsible for shaping the firm’s strategies, processes, and collaborative culture, having joined in 1999 and assumed CIO duties in 2015.

Sultan specializes in capital structure arbitrage, distressed investments, corporate and sovereign credit, special situations, and SPAC investments across both public and private markets. His expertise spans diverse sectors and geographies, focusing on value-oriented strategies that identify and capitalize on mispriced opportunities for institutional clients, including pension funds and endowments.

He began his career as an investment banker at Wolfensohn & Co. and later as an analyst at Siegler, Collery & Co., a fundamental value investment firm. Sultan holds a B.A. in Economics, magna cum laude, from Harvard University, reflecting his strong analytical skills. His leadership has been instrumental in navigating Fir Tree through multiple market cycles and establishing its reputation as a leading value-investment adviser.
