Eric Matthew Alonso

Eric Matthew Alonso is the Head of Research and Investment Surveillance at Magnetar Capital, based in Wilmette, Illinois. In this role, he leads the firm's research efforts and oversees the monitoring of investment strategies, ensuring performance integrity and risk management across Magnetar's diverse portfolios. He specializes in analyzing and supervising alternative investment strategies with a focus on quantitative and qualitative approaches.

At Magnetar Capital, Alonso's expertise covers a broad range of asset classes, particularly within alternative investment sectors such as multi-strategy hedge funds, fixed income, structured credit, and liquid alternatives. His oversight spans both private and public market investments, supporting the firm’s multi-disciplinary approach to asset management and risk.

Before joining Magnetar in 2014, Alonso held senior roles at Credit Suisse as Vice President of Equities, where he focused on equity research and investment analysis, and at LECG as a Senior Associate, overseeing financial consulting projects. He holds an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and a BSBA in Finance and Management from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, demonstrating deep expertise in investment research, portfolio surveillance, and risk assessment.
