Karen Lau

Karen Lau is Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager, Head of CLOs at Marathon Asset Management in New York. In this role, she leads the CLO and Leveraged Loans team, overseeing portfolio management and strategy for Marathon’s CLO platform, which focuses on high-quality, liquid, broadly syndicated senior secured loans, emphasizing capital preservation, lower volatility, and robust structural durability.

Her investment focus lies in U.S. senior secured leveraged loans and collateralized loan obligations (CLOs), with leadership experience managing large, diversified portfolios within the structured credit universe. Prior to joining Marathon in 2022, she was Head of US CLOs at Onex Credit and previously Managing Director in the CLO group at TPG Institutional Credit Partners, managing sizable teams and complex credit portfolios for major global investment platforms.

Karen holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business. Recognized for her leadership as CLO assets under management surpassed $5 billion at Marathon, she is noted for her disciplined investment approach and significant contributions to portfolio construction and risk management in the leveraged finance and CLO sector.
