Roderick Wong

Roderick Wong, MD, serves as Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer at RTW Investments, LP, a New York-based firm he founded in 2009. He is responsible for leading RTW’s investments with a focus on innovative scientific assets, primarily within the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device sectors. Dr. Wong oversees the firm’s strategy of backing disruptive and curative drug development and regularly chairs or participates on the boards of companies specializing in gene therapy and advanced therapeutics.

Previously, Dr. Wong was the Managing Director and sole Portfolio Manager for Davidson Kempner Healthcare Funds, and also held healthcare investment and research roles at Sigma Capital Partners and Cowen & Company. He has taught investment analysis in healthcare as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Finance at NYU Stern since 2009, reflecting his dedication to both the operational and educational aspects of the life sciences investment industry.

Dr. Wong holds an MD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and an MBA from Harvard Business School, having earned both degrees concurrently, alongside a BS in Economics from Duke University. He is recognized for his impact in advancing biotech and medtech investment strategies, and his philanthropic leadership in funding research and therapeutic development for neglected rare diseases through the RTW Charitable Foundation.
