Michael Gatzlaff

Michael Gatzlaff is a partner at Whale Rock Capital Management LLC, where he contributes to the firm’s strategic leadership and investment management with a particular focus on the technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT) sectors. Based in Saint Paul, Minnesota, he leverages his expertise to analyze trends and opportunities within global equity markets, guiding portfolio construction and investment strategy for Whale Rock’s flagship funds that serve institutional clients.

Michael began his career as an Equity Research Associate at Fidelity Management & Research Co., where he was responsible for evaluating company fundamentals and delivering actionable insights to the investment team, building a strong analytical foundation for his subsequent buy-side investment roles. His experience spans comprehensive equity analysis and thematic sector coverage, strengthening Whale Rock's capabilities in TMT-driven growth investing.

He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Michael has played a key role in driving Whale Rock’s reputation for innovative research and high conviction investments in technology-driven sectors, and he has also contributed as an early-stage investor in high-growth companies, actively supporting the development of strategic talent within the firm.
