Alex Reison

Alex Reison, CFA, is Partner, Head Trader, and Director of Quantitative Analytics at Nicholas Investment Partners, based in Rancho Santa Fe, near San Diego, California. He joined the firm in 2006 and is recognized for his leadership in trading operations and quantitative modeling, directly implementing the firm’s trading discipline across its publicly traded portfolios. In his role, he oversees the trade execution, daily allocation, and compliance processes central to the firm’s active investment approach.

Reison's work focuses primarily on small- and mid-cap U.S. equities and convertible securities. He manages a quantitative ranking model that evaluates a universe of approximately 2,500 small-cap companies, and his analytical infrastructure helps drive idea generation, portfolio construction, and risk controls for Nicholas Investment Partners’ strategies, which include dedicated sector portfolios and actively managed equity and convertible funds.

He earned his B.A. from Princeton University and holds the CFA designation. Throughout his tenure, Reison has contributed to the development of rigorous trading and allocation processes that support the firm’s reputation as a boutique specialist in dynamic, innovation-driven companies.
