Bob Phelps

Bob Phelps is Principal and co-founder of Oarsman Capital, Inc., an SEC-registered investment advisory firm headquartered in Milwaukee, WI. Since 2000, he has been responsible for portfolio management, research, and direct client service, leveraging nearly four decades of experience in the financial markets. Phelps has developed proprietary methodologies for asset allocation and specializes in implementing custom investment strategies tailored to individual and institutional client objectives.

His expertise covers a broad spectrum of asset classes, with a particular focus on equity and fixed income securities. Throughout his career, he has managed portfolios for both retail and institutional clients, providing services that include mutual fund and exchange-traded fund (ETF) portfolio construction, as well as retirement plan advisory. Phelps has significant experience in sectors such as finance and consumer services, and he is recognized for his analytical approach to security selection and asset allocation.

Prior to founding Oarsman Capital, Phelps held senior investment roles, including Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Baird Investment Management (Robert W. Baird & Co.) and Principal/Portfolio Manager at Marietta Investment Partners, LLC. He holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business and a BA in Business Administration from Luther College, and received his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 1997.
