James Peregoy

James T. Peregoy, CFA, serves as Co-Portfolio Manager of the Ave Maria Bond Fund and Head Trader at Schwartz Investment Counsel, Inc., based in Detroit. He oversees fixed income research and trading, leads trading operations for equity and bond mutual funds, and manages portfolio strategy for Ave Maria’s flagship fixed income product. His responsibilities span sector analysis, security selection, and execution across both bond and equity markets, with a primary focus on investment-grade and high yield corporate bonds, U.S. Treasuries, and other fixed income products.

Before joining Schwartz Investment Counsel, Inc. in 2021, James was a management consultant at Plante Moran, where he provided advisory services to clients spanning several industries, with an emphasis on financial analysis and strategic initiatives. His professional background demonstrates expertise in both quantitative research and tactical portfolio management as well as broad investment consulting experience.

James holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance and Statistics from Grand Valley State University and is a CFA charterholder. He is recognized for his strong analytical skills and leadership in fixed income portfolio management, contributing to the strategy and execution of Schwartz’s morally responsible investment mandate and achieving a recent promotion to portfolio manager within the organization.
