Scott Sandell

Scott Sandell is the Chairman, CEO, and Chief Investment Officer of New Enterprise Associates (NEA), one of the world’s largest venture capital firms. Since joining NEA in 1996, Sandell has been instrumental in shaping the firm’s investment strategy, leading its technology investing practice for a decade, and overseeing global investment activities, particularly in the technology, healthcare, and growth-stage sectors. He is recognized for steering NEA's investments in transformative companies, including Bloom Energy, Cloudflare, Salesforce, Tableau, WebEx, and Workday.

Sandell’s investment focus is centered on technology companies, with extensive experience in enterprise software, internet infrastructure, cybersecurity, and clean energy, as well as driving NEA’s expansion into China and global technology markets. He has personally backed over 20 companies that have gone public or been acquired, and has led NEA’s engagement in high-impact deals across the software, data, and alternative energy sectors.

Prior to joining NEA, Sandell was a product manager at Microsoft, bringing operational experience to his venture capital work. He holds an M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business and an A.B. in Engineering from Dartmouth College. Sandell is widely recognized as a top-tier technology investor, consistently appearing on the Forbes Midas List since 2007, and actively contributes to the venture community as a board member and educator.
