Josh Baumgarten

Josh Baumgarten is President and Chief Investment Officer at Beach Point Capital Management, based in New York. He leads the firm’s executive team and directs corporate and investment strategy across Beach Point’s core verticals, including private credit, liquid credit and CLOs, multi-asset credit, and structured credit and asset-backed finance. His responsibilities span both public and private market investments, overseeing strategies that invest across direct lending, real estate, hybrid investments, and asset-backed finance sectors.

Prior to joining Beach Point, Baumgarten was Co-Managing Partner and Head of Credit at TPG Angelo Gordon, where he also held roles as Co-Chief Executive Officer and Co-Chief Investment Officer, leading global credit businesses and major strategic growth initiatives. Earlier in his career, he served as Senior Managing Director at Blackstone, managing their alternative credit business and helping develop their global co-investment platform.

Baumgarten earned his degree from The Wharton School and brings over 25 years of expertise in building and leading credit-focused investment businesses. He is recognized for his leadership in alternative and multi-asset credit strategies, and for his contributions to expanding investment platforms at prominent global asset managers.
