James Hanford

James Hanford is an Analyst and Portfolio Manager at Comgest, having joined the firm in 2018. He specializes in European equities, with a core focus on researching and managing portfolios consisting of quality growth stocks across a diverse range of sectors within the pan-European market. James plays a substantial role in the coverage and selection of companies that demonstrate sustainable long-term earnings growth, using Comgest’s team-based, high-conviction investment process.

Before joining Comgest, James worked as a global generalist at Capital Group for four years, where he was responsible for equity research and portfolio analysis across global markets, and began his investment career as an Analyst at Credit Suisse in 2011. His broad sector experience and analytical expertise underpin his ability to identify high-quality European companies with significant growth potential.

James holds a Master’s in Finance from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Durham University, where he graduated at the top of his class. He is also a CFA® charterholder, reflecting his strong quantitative and analytical skills as well as his commitment to the highest standards of professional integrity.
