Alex Munns

Alex Munns is an Assistant Portfolio Manager and Senior Analyst at Driehaus Capital Management LLC in Chicago, Illinois. He plays a key role on the US Growth Equities Team, with primary responsibility for the health care sector, especially covering biotechnology and life sciences companies. Munns’ responsibilities include security selection, portfolio construction, risk management, and generating actionable investment ideas across four US growth strategies, including the Driehaus Life Sciences strategy.

His professional expertise centers on investing in public and private health care companies, with a particular focus on preclinical/clinical-stage biotech firms and early growth-stage medical device companies. Munns utilizes in-depth fundamental research to identify innovative products and approaches with strong market potential and sustainable competitive advantages.

Prior to joining Driehaus in 2015, Munns’ experience included roles in oncology commercialization and business development at Baxalta and business development at Terumo Cardiovascular Systems. He holds a B.A. from Yale University and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. His prior experience also includes teaching for Teach for America in Chicago, contributing a unique perspective to his investment approach.
