Tom McCauley

Tom McCauley is a portfolio manager at Driehaus Capital Management LLC in Chicago, where he leads the Driehaus Event Driven strategy as part of the firm’s liquid alternatives team. His primary responsibilities include investment research, security selection, and portfolio construction, with a specific focus on event-driven opportunities and credit instruments within alternative asset management. McCauley’s role has encompassed identifying and exploiting market inefficiencies arising from corporate actions such as mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and distressed credit situations within the consumer and healthcare sectors.

McCauley brings over 15 years of industry experience as a buy-side credit investor and has held senior roles at Driehaus since 2013. Prior to joining Driehaus, he was an investment analyst at Chicago Fundamental Investment Partners, where he specialized in long/short credit strategies and performed fundamental research across consumer and healthcare industries. Earlier in his career, he served as an associate at Merit Capital—a private equity firm—and worked as an analyst focused on corporate debt underwriting and M&A advisory at ABN AMRO Bank.

Holding the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, McCauley is recognized for his expertise in credit, alternative investments, and event-driven strategies. His significant contributions include optimizing event-driven portfolios and leading innovation in liquid alternatives at Driehaus, underlining his reputation as a trusted expert in credit and event-driven investing. Effective March 31, 2025, he will resign from Driehaus Capital Management.
