Colin McWey

Colin McWey is Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Heartland Advisors, Inc., based in Milwaukee, WI. He serves as co-manager for the Heartland Mid Cap Value Fund and Select Value Fund, overseeing their respective Mid Cap Value and Select Value Strategies. His key responsibilities include portfolio construction, security selection, and guiding the application of Heartland’s value investing principles.

McWey’s investment focus is on publicly traded U.S. mid-cap and select value equities, with sector expertise in Health Care, Financials, and Industrial companies. He joined Heartland Advisors in 2009 as a Research Analyst, became a Portfolio Manager in 2010, and has led the Mid Cap Value Strategy since 2013; he is recognized for his disciplined approach to identifying companies with sound balance sheets and durable business models.

Previously, McWey gained significant experience in corporate finance and fixed income as Vice President - Debt Capital Markets at Banc of America Securities, and earlier as an Analyst in Fixed Income Product Development at Bank of America. He holds a BS in Economics and History from Vanderbilt University and is acknowledged for contributions to thought leadership in value investing, as featured in various industry outlets and conference presentations.
