Jean Barnard

Jean Barnard, CFA, is Director of Research and Portfolio Manager at Kennedy Capital Management LLC, where she leads the Small Cap Growth and SMID Cap Growth investment strategies. Based in Denver, Colorado, she also serves as a member of the firm's Board of Directors and is responsible for coordinating and directing internal research operations across the investment team.

Barnard’s investment expertise centers on small and mid-cap U.S. equities, with a particular focus on growth-oriented companies. Throughout her career, she has led teams of analysts covering sectors such as internet, media, telecommunications, and global communications, and she is noted for integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into the investment process.

Prior to joining Kennedy Capital in 2018, Barnard held senior positions at Janus Capital, including Executive Vice President and Co-Portfolio Manager of the Janus Classic Growth Strategy and Sector Lead for Communications. She began her investment career as an equity research analyst at Janus and was instrumental as a founding member of the firm’s international team. Barnard earned a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Yale University, graduating with distinction in both majors.
