Eric Ward

Eric Ward is a Senior Equity Analyst at M.D. Sass in New York, specializing in deep fundamental research and valuation for the firm's concentrated U.S. equity portfolios. He joined M.D. Sass in June 2022, and is responsible for identifying mispriced, out-of-favor, and misunderstood opportunities primarily within mid- and large-cap equities, with particular expertise in the financials sector. His role entails intensive company analysis, financial modeling, and direct stakeholder engagement to develop high-conviction investment theses.

Prior to joining M.D. Sass, Eric was an investment analyst at LMR Partners, where he focused on the financial sector for a multi-strategy hedge fund. Earlier, he served as Director of Research and Senior Analyst at Northern Right Capital Management, an activist hedge fund, leading research initiatives into activist and special situations within U.S. equities. With nearly two decades of industry experience, he has a proven record in both long-only and hedge fund environments, concentrating on sectors such as financials, special situations, and activist investments.

Eric holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BS in Finance and Accounting from NYU’s Stern School of Business. His significant contributions include driving analytical rigor and thorough risk management in portfolio construction processes, as well as integrating ESG considerations as part of company analysis to maximize risk-adjusted returns for clients.
