Joe Maguire

Joe Maguire, CFA, is Director of Research, Senior Portfolio Manager, and Senior Partner at Penn Capital Management Company, LLC, where he has been a key member of the investment team since 2005. In his current role, Maguire guides the firm's global investment research process and chairs the Credit Risk Committee, supervising the formulation and monitoring of investment advice. He leads portfolio management for Penn Capital’s Short Duration, Defensive High Yield, Opportunistic High Yield, Convertible, and Small to Mid Cap Equity strategies.

Maguire’s investment focus spans high yield and short duration credit, convertible securities, and equities—particularly within the small to mid-cap segment. His expertise extends across multiple sectors with an emphasis on credit markets, risk management, and multi-asset class portfolio construction, playing an integral role in the development of Penn Capital’s high yield and defensively oriented products.

Prior to joining Penn Capital, Maguire was a senior audit associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and conducted private equity research for AMS Inc. He holds a BBA in Accounting from The College of William & Mary and an MBA from Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Maguire is a Chartered Financial Analyst and is recognized for his leadership in credit risk oversight and research-driven portfolio management.
