Adam Nichols

Adam Nichols is a Principal at Sovereign's Capital based in Atlanta, GA, where he leads investments in the lower middle market with a focus on private equity transactions. He is actively involved in all stages of portfolio investment activity, including origination, deal execution, and portfolio management, concentrating on businesses with strong cultures and scalable growth within sectors like specialty contracting, business services, and industrials.

Before joining Sovereign’s Capital, Adam was a Partner at Inman Rock, LLC and served as Senior Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, where he advised private and public companies on M&A and capital markets transactions. His work notably emphasized advisory and execution for commercial and family-owned businesses, particularly in the Southeastern United States, and included significant experience in equity capital markets such as IPOs and private placements.

Adam holds an MBA in Finance from Emory University's Goizueta Business School and a BBA in Finance from the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business. With over 16 years of experience in corporate finance and investment banking, Adam has developed expertise in deal sourcing, diligence, and transaction structuring, and is recognized for his passion in helping family- and founder-led companies achieve growth and operational excellence.
