Sandip Bhagat

Sandip A. Bhagat is the Chief Investment Officer at Whittier Trust Company, where he oversees the firm’s investment policies, strategies, and research across both traditional and alternative asset classes. His responsibilities include strategic asset allocation, risk management, and development of investment solutions tailored to multi-generational family offices and high-net-worth clients. Bhagat is based in South Pasadena, CA.

He brings over 25 years of experience in portfolio management, equities, asset allocation, alternatives, derivatives, and multi-asset class investment solutions. At Whittier Trust, Bhagat’s focus spans global equities, private equity, private credit, and alternative strategies—including ETFs and both active and passive equity portfolios. He is noted for his expertise in mean variance optimization, total portfolio approaches, and delivering long-term capital stewardship in complex multi-asset environments.

Before joining Whittier Trust in 2015, Bhagat held senior roles as Global Head of Equities at Vanguard, Managing Director and Head of Global Asset Allocation at Morgan Stanley, and Managing Director at Citi. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Bombay, a Master’s in Chemical Engineering, and an MBA from the University of Connecticut, and is a CFA® charterholder. His significant industry contributions include shaping strategic investment perspectives on market cycles, risk assets, and the future of private markets.
