Howie Furst

Howie Furst is a Partner at Deerfield Management, a New York City-based healthcare investment firm, where he has been a member of the Therapeutics team since March 2007. In this role, he is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and managing investments in the life sciences sector, with a particular focus on therapeutics and biotechnology companies. Dr. Furst brings a unique blend of clinical expertise and investment acumen to his work, advising portfolio companies and supporting strategic growth initiatives.

Dr. Furst specializes in the therapeutics sector, covering both private and public investments in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and related healthcare innovations. Prior to joining Deerfield Management, Dr. Furst was a Principal at Maverick Capital, where he focused on healthcare investments from November 1999 to February 2006. He holds a medical degree and completed his nephrology training at the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
