John Sheehan

John Sheehan, CFA, is a Partner and Portfolio Manager at Osterweis Capital Management Inc., based in Burlingame, CA. In his current role, he co-manages the firm’s Strategic Income strategy, where he is responsible for constructing portfolios that blend diverse fixed income asset classes to achieve long-term client objectives. His key responsibilities include evaluating market conditions and positioning portfolios by dynamically allocating among investment-grade and high yield bonds, with a focus on maintaining flexibility and managing risk.

John specializes in the fixed income sector, with particular expertise in investment-grade credit and high yield corporate bonds. Prior to co-leading the Strategic Income team at Osterweis at the end of 2023, he managed the Total Return strategy and previously spent over twenty years at Citigroup. At Citigroup, he held senior roles in both Investment Grade Syndicate in New York and West Coast Investment Grade Sales in San Francisco, where he worked closely with major U.S. credit investors and advised on large-scale corporate bond issuance.

He earned a B.A. in Economics from Georgetown University and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. John is recognized for his deep industry knowledge in credit markets and portfolio management, and he is an active member of the CFA Society of San Francisco. His contributions include public commentary on the fixed income outlook and thought leadership on the evolution of credit market strategies.
