Matthew Unger

Matthew Unger, CFA, is Vice President and Portfolio Manager for the Small Cap Growth Strategy at Osterweis Capital Management, where he specializes in identifying and investing in innovative small cap growth companies. As a partner at Osterweis, Unger focuses primarily on opportunities within the Health Care and Industrials sectors, overseeing portfolio strategy for the Osterweis Opportunity Fund and related mandates.

Before joining Osterweis in 2016, Unger gained experience as a Research Associate at RS Investments, covering small cap growth opportunities in the medical technology and industrial spheres, and earlier worked at Platte River Capital, where he focused on the medical device sector. He brings a deep understanding of fundamental company analysis and a conviction-driven investment philosophy to his role.

Unger holds a B.S. in Finance, cum laude, from Trinity University, and an M.B.A. from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. As a CFA charterholder, he is recognized for his expertise in growth equities, especially within small cap healthcare and industrial businesses, and has contributed significantly to the development and performance of innovative, high-conviction equity portfolios.
