Michael Contopoulos

Michael Contopoulos is the Deputy Chief Investment Officer at Richard Bernstein Advisors (RBA), where he plays a pivotal role in shaping the firm’s investment strategy and overseeing portfolio management. Based in New York, he leads the development of RBA’s top-down, macro-driven approach, with a particular emphasis on integrating fixed income perspectives within multi-asset portfolios.

His investment expertise centers on fixed income markets, including corporate credit, interest rate strategies, and global macroeconomic trends, supporting RBA’s tactical ETF-based solutions. As a widely recognized thought leader, Contopoulos frequently provides market commentary on central bank policy, credit market risks, and the evolving dynamics of global asset allocation.

Prior to joining RBA as Director of Fixed Income and progressing to Deputy CIO, he was a Managing Director at Anchorage Capital Group. He holds an MBA in Finance from NYU Stern School of Business and a BA in Economics and Political Science from Columbia University, underpinning his deep knowledge of both fundamental and macroeconomic drivers in the investment industry.
