J Blake Guyler

J Blake Guyler is the Senior Equity Portfolio Manager at Smith, Salley & Associates in Greensboro, NC, where he leads both equity research and portfolio management initiatives. He is responsible for developing and managing the firm’s core and growth equity strategies, with a particular focus on fundamental equity analysis and portfolio construction for individual and institutional clients. Guyler’s investment expertise centers on U.S. equities, covering a broad range of sectors but with specialized emphasis on core and growth strategies, as reflected by his role as Director of Core & Growth Strategy and his extensive experience in equity research.

Prior to joining Smith, Salley & Associates in 2014, Guyler spent a decade as an Equity Research Analyst at Sterling Capital Management, a division of Truist Bank, and at Dean Investment Associates, where he developed deep expertise in the analysis and selection of publicly traded companies across multiple sectors. He began his career in investment consulting and also served as Pension Manager for NCR Corporation, enhancing his understanding of institutional asset management.

Guyler holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from The Ohio State University and an MBA in Finance from the University of Cincinnati’s Lindner College of Business. He is a CFA charterholder and an active member of the CFA Institute and CFA North Carolina Society, reflecting his commitment to professional ethics and continuing education in the investment field.
