Anthony Evnin

Anthony B. Evnin, Ph.D. is a former partner at Venrock Associates, where he played a pivotal role in establishing and expanding the firm's healthcare and biotechnology investment franchise. Joining Venrock in 1974, Dr. Evnin was instrumental in guiding Venrock’s first decades of investments in biotechnology and the broader life sciences sector, focusing on building companies that address critical medical needs. His leadership helped shape the modern biotechnology industry, and he was involved with notable companies such as Centocor, IDEC Pharmaceuticals, Infinity Pharmaceuticals, Genetics Institute, IDEXX Laboratories, Athena Neurosciences, and Acceleron Pharma, among others.

Dr. Evnin’s specific investment focus was on biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, drug discovery, and life sciences companies, supporting innovative therapeutics and platform technologies. Over his career, he served on the boards of major biopharma and healthcare companies, including Juno Therapeutics, AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Infinity Pharmaceuticals, Cantel Medical, and Constellation Pharmaceuticals, and he continues to have influential roles in organizations dedicated to advancing translational medicine and genomics.

He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Beyond his investment career, Dr. Evnin has contributed significantly to the biomedical research community, serving on boards and as a trustee for institutions such as The Rockefeller University, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, The Jackson Laboratory, New York Genome Center, the Lasker Foundation, and Princeton University.
