Mike Tyrrell

Mike Tyrrell is a General Partner at Venrock Associates, based in Cambridge, MA, where he has been investing since 1999. He leads investments primarily in the technology sector, with a focus on advertising technology, social networks, and enterprise software, particularly at the Series A and B stages. Tyrrell currently serves on the boards of several technology companies, including Scope3, Aria Systems, Mable, Numerated, and Salsify.

Prior to joining Venrock, Mike held executive and entrepreneurial roles at venture-backed companies. Notably, he was Executive Vice President of Corporate Development at Spyglass, where he played a pivotal role in licensing the Mosaic web browser and helped lead the company to a successful IPO. He also worked at Multiflow Computer and Celerity Computing, both early leaders in UNIX systems, and began his career at Prime Computer.

Mike earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire. Over his career, he has contributed to and led investments in several high-profile exits, including Appnexus (acquired by AT&T), DataPower (IBM), Endeca Technologies (Oracle), ZoomInfo (Great Hill), and WHERE (eBay), establishing himself as a significant investor and advisor in scaling disruptive technology platforms.
