Forrest Basket

Forest Baskett, PhD, is a Special Partner at New Enterprise Associates (NEA) in Menlo Park, CA, where he has been investing since 1999 and previously served as General Partner. He focuses on technology investments, with an emphasis on sectors such as information technology, semiconductors, enterprise computing, 3D printing, autonomous systems, hardware, and cybersecurity. Throughout his tenure at NEA, Dr. Baskett has served on numerous boards and guided investments from seed stage to IPO or acquisition, with several of his portfolio companies achieving public listings or successful exits.

His notable career background includes serving as Senior Vice President of R&D and Chief Technology Officer at Silicon Graphics, Inc., and founding the Western Research Laboratory at Digital Equipment Corporation. Prior to these roles, he was a professor of computer science and electrical engineering at Stanford University, contributing significant expertise in computer architecture and high-performance computing systems.

Dr. Baskett holds a BA in Mathematics from Rice University and earned his PhD in Computer Science from The University of Texas at Austin. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, reflecting his influential contributions to both computing and venture capital.
