James Hentges

James Hentges is a Senior Portfolio Manager at Angel Oak Capital Advisors, LLC, based in Kirkland, WA. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing fixed income investment strategies, with a particular focus on managing portfolios within the high yield and structured credit sectors, including residential and asset-backed securities.

Prior to joining Angel Oak in 2016, Hentges served as Fixed Income Portfolio Manager at Rainier Investment Management, where he specialized in credit markets and asset allocation (2009–2016). He also held the position of Managing Director at AIG Global Investment Group, where he contributed to the firm’s fixed income and credit strategies (2007–2008).

Hentges holds a BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington and also studied Finance at Texas Tech University. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated expertise in fixed income portfolio construction, with notable achievements in managing institutional assets across sectors such as high yield corporates, structured products, and mortgage-backed securities.
