James Peterson

James D. Peterson, CFA is a Partner and Deputy Chief Investment Officer at GlobeFlex Capital L.P., based in Coronado, CA. He joined GlobeFlex in 2008 and is centrally involved in leading the firm’s investment process, working directly under the guidance of the Chief Investment Officer. In this role, Peterson has responsibility for overseeing quantitative investment strategies, risk management, and portfolio management across global markets.

Peterson’s investment focus includes frontier markets equity, international small-cap funds, and global small-to-mid-cap (SMID) equities. GlobeFlex’s strategies under his leadership have received industry recognition, notably Emerging Manager Awards for top performance in frontier markets and international small-cap funds, with the frontier markets equity strategy achieving substantial outperformance of its benchmark in 2024. He is actively involved in institutional equity investment and systematic portfolio management for these asset classes.

Prior to GlobeFlex, Peterson was a Mid Cap equity portfolio manager at NCM Capital Management and held the role of Portfolio Manager and Director of Quantitative Research at Duncan-Hurst. He began his career at FactSet Research Systems. Peterson holds a B.S. degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Oregon, and is a CFA charterholder, showcasing expertise in quantitative research and global equity investing.
