Shailesh Gupta

Shailesh Gupta serves as Chief Investment Officer and CIO: Structural Alpha at Simplify in Las Vegas, overseeing the firm's investment strategy and development of innovative, options-based ETF solutions. His responsibilities encompass leading the design and management of structural alpha and yield-enhanced strategies, particularly those focused on delivering convexity and risk premium harvesting in rates, treasuries, mortgage-backed securities, and related fixed income and volatility sectors.

Gupta’s career background includes leadership roles as Head of Trading at Simplify and Portfolio Manager at Anfield Capital Management, as well as significant tenure at PIMCO where he managed global derivatives trading and strategy, co-managed portfolios exceeding $60 billion in assets, and oversaw risk management during the financial crisis. His expertise centers on derivatives, structured products, volatility risk, and innovative yield-enhancement techniques, aiming to make institutional-grade strategies accessible through ETFs.

He holds an MS in Financial Mathematics from the University of Chicago, an MS in Finance from Illinois Institute of Technology, an MBA in Finance from XLRI Jamshedpur, and a B.Tech from IIT Delhi, with further studies at UC Irvine. Widely respected for his contributions in derivatives and structured alpha, Gupta is recognized for integrating advanced quantitative and risk management techniques across interest rate volatility, fixed income, and options-based asset allocation.
