Bret Lannert

Bret Lannert is a Portfolio Manager and Partner at Zazove Associates LLC, based in Incline Village, Nevada. He joined Zazove in 2021 and is responsible for managing the firm’s core balanced convertible strategy and the convertible arbitrage strategy, focusing on convertible securities across the credit spectrum globally. His expertise centers on quantitative approaches to assessing convertible risk/reward, serving a diverse array of institutional clients including insurance companies, pension funds, endowments, and family offices.

Prior to joining Zazove Associates, Lannert served as a Product Specialist for Portfolio Analytics at Ridgeline and was a co-founder and Managing Partner at Lupo Futures, a proprietary trading group focused on quantitative volatility strategies and interest rate derivative trading. He also held roles at Chicago Trading Company and BearingPoint, accumulating over 17 years of experience in the execution of complex investment strategies, particularly in derivatives and volatility-linked products.

Lannert holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a B.A.Sc. in Aviation Management from Southern Illinois University, and has completed a programming immersion program at the University of Chicago. He is recognized for his quantitative acumen and for developing advanced analytics for asset managers, contributing to innovation and best practices in portfolio management for convertible securities and related structured products.
