Mark Madsen

Mark Madsen, CFA, is a Portfolio Manager at Wasatch Advisors LP in Salt Lake City, where he leads the firm’s Global Small Cap Value and International Small Cap Value strategies. In this role, he focuses on identifying high-quality, dynamic small-cap companies globally, utilizing a quality-value investment approach that targets both growth and value characteristics. His responsibilities also include contributing research to Wasatch’s broader global and international small-cap investment teams, supporting the firm’s extensive expertise in smaller-cap equities.

Prior to rejoining Wasatch in 2025, Mark spent nine years at Grandeur Peak Global Advisors as Portfolio Manager of the Grandeur Peak Global Contrarian Fund, specializing in the energy, materials, and industrial sectors. Earlier, he founded Red Desert Capital, where he managed a concentrated value portfolio, and started his investment career as a senior research analyst on Wasatch’s Small Cap Value strategy in 2004. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for deep fundamental analysis and a disciplined, bottom-up investment style.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Accountancy from Brigham Young University and is a CFA charterholder. His expertise in small-cap equities and sector specialization in energy, materials, and industrials have contributed to his success in developing value-oriented investment products with strong risk-adjusted performance over time.
