Casey Nelsen

Casey Nelsen is the Chief Investment Officer and Managing Principal at Alta Capital Management LLC, based in Salt Lake City, Utah. In his role as CIO, he oversees the firm’s investment strategies, portfolio construction, and asset allocation decisions, bringing a disciplined approach to quality growth investing. Casey focuses primarily on U.S. large-cap equities, employing a bottom-up process to identify high-quality growth companies with durable business models and strong balance sheets.

He began his investment career with Alta Capital in 2007 and quickly advanced through the organization, reflecting his deep expertise and leadership in equity research and portfolio management. Casey holds a bachelor's degree in business management with a finance emphasis from Brigham Young University's Marriott School of Management, where he helped establish and continues to mentor the BYU student investment fund. He is also a CFA® Charterholder and an active member of the CFA Society of Salt Lake, further attesting to his proficiency in the investment management field.

Throughout his career, Casey has been recognized for his commitment to rigorous fundamental analysis and for fostering a collaborative investment culture at Alta Capital. His contributions include mentoring student investors and maintaining Alta’s focus on high-conviction growth investing, particularly within large-cap U.S. equities.
