Daniel Hung

Daniel Hung is Managing Director and Co-Portfolio Manager at Contrarian Capital Management, L.L.C. in New York, where he oversees investments for the firm's Opportunity Fund series. In his current role, he specializes in distressed and special situations investing, focusing on opportunities across the capital structure of both public and private companies, including direct lending and other complex credit strategies.

Prior to joining Contrarian in 2020, Mr. Hung was a Research Analyst in the Distressed & Special Situations Group at BlueMountain Capital Management, leading healthcare sector coverage and executing investments in wide-ranging scenarios such as direct loans, restructurings, and opportunistic credit. His previous experience also includes Analyst positions at Knighthead Capital Management, where he focused on distressed and event-driven investments, and roles at Blackstone, Riverside Partners, and BlackRock Kelso Capital, covering private equity and restructuring.

Mr. Hung holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and earned his BS cum laude in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University. He is recognized for his expertise in distressed debt, special situations, and sector coverage with a notable emphasis on healthcare, as well as his broad experience across acquisition, restructuring, and recapitalization transactions.
