Janice Stanton

Janice Stanton is a founding member, President, and Partner at Contrarian Capital Management, L.L.C., based in Greenwich, CT. In this capacity, she collaborates closely with CEO Jon Bauer, directing the firm's corporate investment activities with a focus on senior secured corporate credit and distressed securities. Stanton also manages the Contrarian Credit Fund, overseeing strategy and portfolio construction in opportunistic credit and special situations, especially in developed markets.

Her expertise spans over 35 years in distressed securities, specializing in bank debt, trade claims, and complex corporate restructurings. Prior to co-founding Contrarian, she founded and led the Bank Debt and Trade Claims desk at Oppenheimer & Co., where she managed distressed investments for both partnerships and external clients. Her early career included roles in corporate finance at Lehman Brothers and strategy consulting at Booz Allen Hamilton.

Stanton holds an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and graduated magna cum laude from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. She is also a CFA charterholder. Her leadership and investment acumen are reflected in significant contributions to numerous creditor and restructuring committees within the corporate credit sector.
