Armando Sistos

Armando Sistos is a Portfolio Manager and Partner at Empyrean Capital Partners, LP, an independent, SEC-registered investment advisor and hedge fund manager headquartered in Los Angeles, California. In his current role, Sistos is responsible for identifying, researching, and managing investments within Empyrean’s multi-strategy, event-driven mandate, with a particular focus on equity and credit markets, capital structure arbitrage, and special situations across both public and private markets.

Sistos brings over 18 years of financial industry experience, having started his career as an Analyst in the Investment Banking Division and the Principal Investment Area at Goldman Sachs & Co., followed by a role at Perry Capital as a member of the US Equities Healthcare team, and as an Associate in the Healthcare group at Canyon Capital Advisors, a credit-focused hedge fund. He joined Empyrean Capital Partners in 2009 and has advanced to Partner, contributing broad expertise in fundamental equity and credit analysis, portfolio construction, and risk mitigation in complex, event-driven strategies.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Mathematics from Yale University. Notably, Sistos’s career has been distinguished by his deep sector knowledge in healthcare and his proven ability to generate risk-adjusted returns through disciplined research and a versatile, opportunistic investment approach focused on inefficiency and mispricing in market, regulatory, and legal-driven events.
