Brian Higgins

Brian Higgins is the co-founder, managing partner, and co-portfolio manager of King Street Capital Management, a global alternative investment firm he established in 1995. In his current role, he oversees all aspects of the firm’s strategy and serves as chair of various committees, including the Management Committee, Global Investment Committee, and Real Estate Investment Committee.

Higgins specializes in distressed debt, special situations, and credit investments, with a focus that extends to real estate, public equities, structured and asset-backed credit, corporate credit, and private credit. Under his leadership, King Street has expanded its strategies to include collateralized loan obligations and growth lending, making significant investments across multiple sectors such as telecommunications, utilities, pharmaceuticals, and real estate.

Before founding King Street, Higgins was part of the Special Situations Fund and Distressed Securities Group at First Boston, where he honed his expertise in contrarian and value investing. Recognized for his disciplined approach and long-term performance, he has received notable industry accolades, such as Institutional Investor’s 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award, and also serves the broader community through board roles and philanthropic commitments.
