Ryan Dobratz

Ryan Dobratz is the Co-Lead Portfolio Manager for the Third Avenue Real Estate Value Fund and the Third Avenue Real Estate Value Fund UCITS at Third Avenue Management, where he has been a key member of the investment team since 2006. Based in Austin, TX, Dobratz oversees strategy, research, and portfolio construction for global real estate equities, with a specific focus on listed real estate operating companies, real estate services firms, and select public and private real estate investments. His sector expertise encompasses residential, office, industrial, and specialized real estate segments, including investments in companies such as CBRE and deep dives into entities like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Prior to joining Third Avenue Management, Dobratz was an Equity Research Analyst at Morningstar, where he provided fundamental analysis on public companies and built sector expertise in real assets. Over his investment career, he has developed a reputation for applying value-oriented, fundamentals-driven approaches and differentiating between C Corps and REITs in public markets.

Dobratz earned his MBA from the University of Missouri-Columbia and holds additional credentials from Imperial College London. He is recognized for his thought leadership in global real estate investing and has contributed to industry discussions on investment strategies through podcasts, panels, and advisory board roles.
