Sanjiv Talwar

Sanjiv Talwar, M.D., Ph.D., is Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager, Senior Analyst, and Head of Healthcare at Alger, a leading growth equity investment firm based in New York. In his current role, Dr. Talwar manages the Alger Health Sciences Fund, the Alger Life Sciences Innovation Fund, and contributes to the Alger Large Cap Growth strategy, leveraging deep expertise to identify innovative healthcare and life sciences companies.

Dr. Talwar's investment focus centers on healthcare sectors, particularly biopharmaceuticals, medical technology, and health services, where he applies bottom-up research and scientific insight to evaluate companies that are driving clinical and commercial advancements. Prior to Alger, he served as Portfolio Manager and Director of Equity Research at OppenheimerFunds, later Invesco, overseeing life sciences funds, and earlier as Associate Principal at McKinsey & Company, leading healthcare consulting teams globally.

He holds an M.D. from the University of Bombay and both a Ph.D. and an M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, bringing over 15 years of investment experience and 12 years in scientific and medical research, including academic roles focused on brain-machine interface science. Dr. Talwar is recognized for his industry-leading expertise and contributions to healthcare investing, consistently delivering research-driven results in highly competitive markets.
